One of the biggest failings of our educational system is that schools don't teach kids about money. There is nothing in the curriculum that makes money smart kids. I run a scholarship every year from one of the blogs and ask applicants for an essay about what their parents taught them about money or what they’ve learned. Some of the essays I get are really amazing but not all of them are positive. The fact is that personal finance isn’t taught in school and a lot of times, our parent’s bad habits are the ones passed down. That’s why I think it is such a great opportunity to teach the younger generation about personal finance, or to just be proactive and learn about money yourself as early as possible.
